Considered the most lavishly illustrated Bible printed in America, this Bible was originally sold in a series of 54 issues at 25 cents each. While large Bibles such as this were considered “family Bibles,” this particular one does not contain any dedication entry or birth, marriage, or death notes. Designed for group Bible study, these editions came in large volumes, complete with pictures, maps, and glossaries.

Printed in 1846 by Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York. Acquired by Christian Heritage Museum, Hagerstown, Maryland; Privately purchased in 2010 by Green Collection, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Donated in 2016 to National Christian Foundation (later The Signatry) under the curatorial care of Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
