The full title of this work is The Divine Liturgies of Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Basil the Great, and the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. Church History and Mystic Theory of Germanus, Archbishop of Constantinople. The Divine Liturgy is the primary worship service of the Orthodox Church. During this service, the Eucharist is celebrated. The Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom is celebrated most Sundays and feast days, while the Liturgy of Saint Basil is celebrated a few times a year, and the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is celebrated during the weekdays of Great Lent. Demetrius Ducas printed this small volume for “Orthodox Christians everywhere” with the assistance of the metropolitan of Rhodes and Libius, the archbishop of Cyprus.

Printed in 1526 by Demetrius Ducas in Rome, Italy. Acquired by the library of the Minim convent at Saint Roch in Toulouse, France.[1] Purchased at auction in 2013 by Green Collection, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;[2] Donated in 2017 to National Christian Foundation (later The Signatry) under the curatorial care of Museum of the Bible.

Notes: [1] A Latin inscription on the title page gives this provenance note. The convent at Saint Roch was dissolved during the French Revolution (1789–1799). [2] Sotheby’s, June 5, 2013, Lot 67.
