Old and New Testament Translated into Portuguese by João Ferreira d’Almeida, with References and Some Variants, Revised and Corrected Edition. João Ferreira d’Almeida is best known for translating the Bible into Portuguese between 1642 and 1691. This became the most commonly used translation among Portuguese-speaking Protestants, especially in Brazil. A revision of d’Almeida’s translation using modern phrases and vocabulary was issued in Rio de Janeiro to update the Bible. The New Testament was completed in 1910, and the complete Portuguese Bible was completed in 1914 and 1926.

Published in 1937 by The British and Foreign Bible Society, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Acquired by a Lutheran pastor between 1937 and 1938;[1] Gifted to Reverend Marion C. Hofman;[2] Donated in 2018 to Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.

Notes: [1] Possibly named Martin F. Hofman. [2] Son of the Lutheran pastor.
