Dr. Anthony “Tony” Evans is Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Church in Dallas, Texas, and founder of the influential radio program, The Urban Alternative. Oak Cliff Bible Church grew out of series of Bible studies led by Evans as a graduate student at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he would earn his master’s and doctorate degrees. He established the church in 1976, and, as the community grew, began broadcasting The Urban Alternative. Today, Oak Cliff has nearly 10,000 members and Evans’s radio program airs around the world. This commentary is the product of Evans’s fifty years of experience as a minister and pastor. It is the first such commentary to be written solely by an African American scholar.
