Written by C. S. Lewis, The Silver Chair was completed in 1951 but not published until 1953. While it was the fourth published novel in The Chronicles of Narnia, recent editions of the series, set in chronological order, place The Silver Chair as volume six. It was the first Narnia novel Lewis wrote that did not feature the Pevensie children, focusing instead on Eustace, a character first introduced in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Lewis intended his books to teach children about the Christian faith by creating an imaginary world where characters embodied biblical themes. This copy is a first edition, first impression, and wrapped in the original dust jacket.

Printed in 1950 by Geoffrey Bles, London. Acquired by Dr. Edwin Brown (1926–2015); Purchased after 2013 by Andrew Stimer, Camarillo, California;[1] Privately purchased in 2014 by Green Collection, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Donated in 2015 to National Christian Foundation (later The Signatry), under the curatorial care of Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.

Notes: [1] Information from Stimer states he purchased this work from Dr. Edwin Brown, an avid reader and collector of Lewis’s works. Brown sold the majority of his collection to a library in 2013, and Stimer purchased the remaining Lewis material afterward.
