This Bible is the first full translation of the New Testament into Cherokee. This volume was collated and revised by Rev. Charles Torrey. Cherokee is the only southern Iroquoian language and differs significantly from the other Iroquoian languages because of its polysynthetic structure and unique syllabic writing system. Cherokee is one of the few Native American languages with an increasing number of speakers.
