Billy Graham’s The Challenge is a collection of 10 sermons that he preached at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 1969. Graham was an American revivalist who embraced mass media to reinvent the American revival tradition for the post-World War II era, preaching to more people than anyone else in history—about 215 million people in nearly 100 countries and territories. Whether in radio, television, print, or in person, Graham’s message drew heavily from the Bible. Graham’s services in Madison Square Garden attracted tens of thousands of people, along with a record-breaking TV audience. The sermons address a wide range of issues, from loneliness to racial injustice, from a biblical perspective.
