This chart was created and used by Rev. Ernest Grenville Sawyer (1876–1949), a pastor and evangelist in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in western Pennsylvania. It bears the title, “Chart of the Seven Dispensations,” under which the dispensations are hand-painted in color in elaborate detail. Metal grommets are located across the top and on the corners. Sawyer used the chart as a visual aid during his sermons and Bible studies, reflecting the growing popularity of “dispensational theology” in America at this time. He gifted it to his granddaughter upon his death, who used it in her own ministry before donating it to Museum of the Bible.
