This songbook was used by Billy Graham and his team during the early years of their ministry. Graham was an American revivalist who used mass media to reinvent the revival tradition for the post-World War II era. Over a 70-year period, he preached to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history—about 215 million people in nearly 100 countries and territories. Graham believed music could serve as a form of sermon, or “singing evangelism.” This songbook was compiled in 1950 by Clifford Barrows, Graham’s longtime music leader, and includes hymns such as “Just As I Am” that would become closely associated with Graham’s worship services.
Printed in 1950 by The Rodeheaver, Hall-Mack Company, Winona Lake, Indiana. Acquired after 1950 by J. M. Broadway, Nashville, Tennessee.[1] Acquired by 2020 by Ted Steinbock, private collector, Louisville, Kentucky; Privately purchased in 2020 by Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
