White Kennett (1660–1728), an Anglican bishop and scholar, helped establish the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG) in 1701, an important missionary organization of the Church of England. Kennett’s account here describes the formation of the SPG and its work in North America, providing a glimpse into the early goals of the society and the attitudes of its members, particularly toward ministering to Native Americans and enslaved Africans.

Printed in 1706 by Joseph Downing, London, England. Acquired by 2019 by Ted Steinbock, private collector, Louisville, Kentucky; Privately purchased in 2020 by Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
