Made to withstand fire, water, scratching, and radiation, all 1,750 pages of the standard NIV translation are engraved on this sapphire disk approximately the size of a person’s palm. This nano Bible was designed with the goal of long-term preservation and sustainability. Other media, such as printed books and computer disks and drives, can be vulnerable to such hazards. This Bible is part of a small collection of items, including a digital microscope, called a nanoscope. This nanoscope allows a reader to send highly magnified images and real time videos of the text to a tablet or cellphone using wifi.

Created in the 21st century by Natinsa, France; Donated in 2021 to Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
